Australia captain George Bailey is adamant the right line-up was selected for the ICC World Twenty20 semi-final against West Indies despite the game resulting in a heavy defeat for his side. 

David Hussey being drafted in for his first game of the tournament in place of Glenn Maxwell and spinner Xavier Doherty being favoured above Dan Christian were the most contentious picks in the Australian team that faced the eventual winners. Both Hussey and Doherty endured miserable games in the 74-run loss but Bailey had no regrets.

"With the benefit of hindsight you might do things differently," Bailey told reporters upon his arrival at Melbourne Airport on Monday.

"But I don't think I would have changed anything. I think we had our team best suited to win the semi-final but we just got completely outplayed. You look at two teams that made the final, the structure of the teams and how they played, then maybe there's a couple of areas where we need to improve.”

Bailey suggested Australia will need to look at unearthing better quality spinners if it is to go one stage further in the next ICC World Twenty20, also held on the sub-continent.

"I'm particularly looking forward to 2014, the [ICC World Twenty20] in Bangladesh. Conditions are going to be a little bit similar, maybe even more spin friendly. So for our team going forward, that's what we need to focus on...how best to adapt to those conditions."
